Ashok Leyland has entered into a partnership with Rosmerta Recycling to build an organised ecosystem for scrapping end-of-life commercial vehicles across India, as per news reports.
The collaboration will enable customers to access authorised vehicle recycling facilities while simplifying the scrappage process through Ashok Leyland's nationwide dealer network.
As part of the partnership, Ashok Leyland dealers will connect customers with Rosmerta Recycling's Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) located across the country.
The programme will provide an end-to-end scrappage process, including assistance with vehicle deregistration, statutory documentation and other regulatory formalities, ensuring compliant disposal of old commercial vehicles.
The partnership aligns with the Government of India's Voluntary Vehicle Modernisation Program and the Naya Safar Scheme, which promote the replacement of ageing vehicles with lower-emission models.
Rosmerta Recycling's authorised facilities will dismantle end-of-life vehicles in accordance with environmental and regulatory standards while recovering recyclable materials.
The collaboration also supports the formalisation of commercial vehicle scrappage as vehicle replacement initiatives expand.
Customers scrapping their old commercial vehicles under the programme will be eligible for competitive scrap value, OEM-linked discounts on the purchase of new Ashok Leyland vehicles, and waivers on road tax and registration fees, wherever applicable under government policies.
The programme also includes support for compliant vehicle deregistration, making the entire process more streamlined.
Highlighting the significance of the partnership, Kartick Nagpal, President, Rosmerta Group, said it comes at a crucial time as recent government initiatives are expected to accelerate organised vehicle scrappage across the country.
Referring to the mandatory scrappage of BS-III and older commercial vehicles, he said the move, covering an estimated 2.07 lakh vehicles in Delhi-NCR, is "a significant step towards cleaner mobility and a stronger circular economy."
