Apollo Micro Systems Limited has been granted a significant defence manufacturing license by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India.  

This approval, valid for 15 years, enables the company to produce unmanned aerial systems and radar equipment, marking a pivotal step in its strategic expansion into defence manufacturing. 

Details of the Defence License 

On December 1, 2025, Apollo Micro Systems received approval to manufacture defence items, including unmanned helicopters and radar equipment. The license, issued under the Industrial Development and Regulation Act, 1951, allows operations at their Hyderabad facility.  

The company is set to develop multiple unmanned aerial systems (UAS) platforms, collaborating with domestic and international partners for logistics, delivery, and offensive unmanned systems. 

Strategic Importance of the License for Apollo Micro Systems 

This license is crucial for Apollo Micro Systems as it opens doors to current and future manufacturing opportunities with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).  

The company is actively engaged in developing inertial navigation systems (INS) and radar technology, with plans to integrate advanced navigation solutions such as MEMS-based, Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG), and Ring Laser Gyro (RLG) systems. 

Radar Equipment Manufacturing 

The license also covers the production of complete radar equipment, including radar assemblies, signal processing units, and antennas.  

This development is expected to enhance Apollo Micro Systems' capabilities in modern radar systems, supporting both domestic and international defence projects.
