Apollo Micro Systems Limited, a Hyderabad-based defence technology company, has been granted a lifetime license by the Government of India to manufacture and proof-test advanced weapon systems.
This development marks a significant milestone in the company's strategic expansion into high-value defence manufacturing.
The license, issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), authorises Apollo Micro Systems to produce a range of strategic weapon systems.
These include missiles, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), torpedoes, aerial bombs, and loitering munitions. The manufacturing will take place at the company's facilities in Hyderabad.
The license covers two categories of arms of calibre above 12.7mm. Category I includes guided weapons, underwater systems, and countermeasures, while Category II encompasses aerial munitions and loitering systems.
The annual production capacity is set at 1,000 units per category.
This license significantly transforms Apollo Micro Systems' business model, allowing it to transition from a provider of embedded systems to a full-fledged manufacturer of complete weapon systems.
The company's expertise in defence electronics, guidance systems, and integration positions it well to capitalise on this new opportunity.

By expanding its manufacturing capabilities, Apollo Micro Systems is poised to contribute significantly to the Indian Armed Forces and the global defence market.
