Apollo Micro Systems Limited, a Hyderabad-based defence technology company, has been granted a lifetime license by the Government of India to manufacture a range of strategic weapon systems.  

This significant development marks a new chapter for the company, expanding its capabilities in the defence sector. 

Details of the Arms Manufacture License 

The license, issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, was granted on April 10, 2026.  

It authorises Apollo Micro Systems to manufacture and proof-test various high-value strategic weapon systems, including missiles, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), torpedoes, and aerial bombs.  

The license is valid for a lifetime, allowing the company to produce up to 1,000 units per category annually. 

Strategic Significance and Facilities 

This license enables Apollo Micro Systems to transition from a provider of embedded systems to a comprehensive manufacturer of complete weapon systems.  

The company will carry out manufacturing at its facilities located in Hyderabad, specifically at Plot No. 8 & 9, Hardware Park Phase-II, Mamidipally Village, and Plot No. 128/A, IDA Mallapur, Uppal Mandal.

Collaboration with IDL Explosives Limited 

IDL Explosives Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Apollo Micro Systems, will play a crucial role in this venture.  

With expertise in industrial and defence-grade explosives, propellants, and detonators, IDL Explosives will complement Apollo Micro Systems' capabilities in guidance electronics and sensor integration.  

This collaboration aims to support the end-to-end development of the licensed weapon systems.
