Allied Blenders and Distillers Share Price in Focus; Malt Distillery Begins Operations in Telangana

Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) has started commercial operations at its malt distillery in Rangapur, Telangana. The new facility has an approved manufacturing capacity of around 4.4 million bulk litres per year.
The plant adds another part to ABD’s in-house production network, giving the company greater control over malt spirit used in its whisky portfolio.
In-House Malt Production Begins
The distillery will supply malt spirit for ABD’s existing requirements, helping the company manage quality and maintain a steady supply as production increases.
Managing Director Amar Sinha said bringing this key input in-house would strengthen backward integration, support operating margins and reduce the impact of market fluctuations on core brands.
Plans for Single Malt Whisky
Beyond meeting current production needs, the facility will support product development and maturation. ABD said it can now begin laying down malt spirit for its own Indian single malt whisky, which it plans to craft in the coming years.
The development also supports the company’s push into its Prestige & Above portfolio, as it looks to expand beyond its established mass-market brands.
Rangapur Manufacturing Hub
Rangapur already houses ABD’s grain distillation, PET bottle production and bottling operations. The addition of malt distillation brings these activities together at one location, strengthening the company’s control over production, costs and supply continuity.
About Allied Blenders and Distillers
ABD is one of India’s leading spirits companies and exports to 39 international markets. Its portfolio spans whisky, brandy, rum, vodka and gin, with brands including Officer’s Choice, Sterling Reserve and ICONiQ White.
The company operates a manufacturing network of 40 units, including owned bottling facilities, distilleries and a PET bottle plant, alongside non-owned manufacturing units.
