
Adani Power Limited has announced the acquisition of significant assets from Jaiprakash Associates Limited, valued at ₹4,193 crore.
This strategic move aligns with Adani's ongoing expansion in the power generation sector.
Adani Power has entered into definitive agreements to acquire 24% of the shareholding in Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL) from Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL).
Additionally, the acquisition includes a 180 MW thermal power plant located in Churk, along with other related assets, including an 11.49% stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited.
The total cost for acquiring 24% of JPVL's shareholding is ₹2,993.59 crore, while the Churk power plant and related assets are valued at ₹1,200 crore.
The transactions are executed in cash, ensuring a straightforward financial exchange.
The acquisition has received approval from the Competition Commission of India as of August 26, 2025.
Furthermore, the resolution plan was sanctioned by the National Company Law Tribunal, Allahabad bench, on March 17, 2026, and upheld by the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal on May 4, 2026.
The completion of the acquisition is anticipated within 90 days from the NCLT approval date.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited is primarily engaged in thermal and hydro power generation, with additional interests in coal mining, sand mining, and cement grinding.
The company operates three power plants with a combined capacity of 2,220 MW, a 2 MTPA cement grinding unit, and a 3.92 MTPA coal mine. JPVL reported turnovers of ₹5,79,085 lakh in 2025-26, ₹5,70,630 lakh in 2024-25, and ₹7,15,100 lakh in 2023-24.
As of May 20, 2026, at 3:30 PM, Adani Power share price on NSE was closed at ₹220.24 up by 0.52% from the previous closing price.
