Acutaas Chemicals has taken another step into the semiconductor materials business with the inauguration of a new plant in Gongju, South Korea. The facility is operated by Indichem Inc., a South Korean step-down subsidiary of Acutaas, and was inaugurated on August 28, 2026.

The plant was completed in just 11 months, after its groundbreaking on September 29, 2025. Spread across 16,513.7 sq. m., the site includes a production block, a combined headquarters, R&D and pilot plant, and a warehouse. Space is also available for expansion.

₹200 Crore Investment Behind Korean Facility

Acutaas Advance Material Limited (AAML), a wholly owned subsidiary of Acutaas Chemicals, owns 75% of Indichem, while South Korea's J & Materials Co. Ltd. holds the remaining 25%.

AAML has invested KRW 30 billion, or around ₹200 crore, in Indichem.

The business will follow a two-country setup. Chemicals will be synthesised in India, while refining, testing and semiconductor-grade qualification will take place in South Korea, closer to customers.

Indichem Targets High-Purity Semiconductor Chemicals

Indichem was incorporated in 2025 and focuses on specialty chemicals for the semiconductor and IT/display industries. Its initial focus is on high-purity chemicals used in semiconductor applications.

Acutaas Chairman and Managing Director Naresh Patel said the company sees the facility as an important step towards scaling its semiconductor materials business into a long-term growth engine.

About Acutaas Chemicals

Acutaas Chemicals Limited, formerly Ami Organics, is headquartered in Surat, Gujarat. It makes specialty chemicals for pharmaceutical, semiconductor, battery chemical, personal care, agrochemical and fine chemical applications, while expanding into materials for emerging technologies.

Conclusion

The Gongju plant gives Acutaas a manufacturing base in South Korea while combining it with chemical synthesis capabilities in India. The company has positioned the facility as part of its push into high-purity semiconductor materials.
