NTPC Green Energy and MAHAGENCO Form JV to Develop Renewable Energy Parks

On November 26, 2024, NTPC announced that its arm, NTPC Green Energy, has partnered with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (MAHAGENCO) to form a 50:50 joint venture, MAHAGENCO NTPC Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. (MNGEPL).
Purpose and Impact
The joint venture has been formed with the primary objective of developing, operating, and maintaining Renewable Energy Parks in Maharashtra under the UMREPP initiative.
UMREPP stands for Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park. It is a government initiative in India aimed at setting up large-scale renewable energy parks to facilitate the generation of renewable energy from sources like wind, solar, and hybrid energy systems.
These parks are designed to attract investments and promote the development of renewable energy projects, ensuring efficient power generation and contributing to India’s clean energy goals.
Additionally, the venture will allocate these parks for the development of various renewable energy projects, further promoting clean energy growth in the region.
NTPC Green Energy IPO Listing
NTPC Green’s initial public offering (IPO), which was open for public subscription from November 19 to November 22, is set to be listed today. The share allocation took place on November 25.
NTPC Share Price Performance
On November 27, 2024, NTPC share price was trading 0.30% higher at ₹362.75 at 9:30 AM on the NSE. The stock opened at ₹363.80 higher from its previous close of ₹361.65.
