In a landmark announcement coinciding with its 25th anniversary, HDFC Life Insurance Company has declared its highest-ever bonus of ₹4,102 crore for participating policyholders. This milestone move will benefit over 21.90 lakh policyholders across India.
Immediate and Future Payouts
Out of the total bonus declared:
- ₹3,232 crore will be paid out in the current financial year as survival or maturity benefits.
- The remaining amount will be accrued to policies and disbursed as future policy benefits in upcoming financial years.
Consistent Growth Reflected in Bonus Performance
The company highlighted that its annual bonus has nearly doubled every four years, showcasing the steady growth and robust performance of its with-profits fund. Since its inception, HDFC Life has cumulatively declared bonuses exceeding ₹22,500 crore across eligible participating policies.
Eshwari Murugan, Appointed Actuary at HDFC Life, emphasized the significance of this record bonus, calling it a reward for policyholder loyalty. She underlined that these bonuses are designed to honor and incentivize long-term commitment from policyholders.

- Axis Max Life Insurance recently declared a bonus of ₹2,135 crore for FY2024–25, benefiting 21 lakh policyholders.
- In May, Tata AIA Life Insurance announced a bonus of ₹1,842 crore, impacting 17.22 lakh policyholders.
- Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance also joined the trend, declaring ₹1,178 crore in bonuses for FY2025.
