Som Distilleries & Breweries Ltd, a prominent player in India’s alcoholic beverage industry, has initiated construction of a major greenfield facility in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. With an investment of ₹600 crore, the project aims to strengthen the company’s production capacity while boosting employment and regional development.
The upcoming manufacturing facility, spread across 40 acres allotted by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), will include a brewery, distillery, bottling lines, storage, and maturation units. Developed under its subsidiary, Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients, the facility will have a bottling capacity exceeding 12 million beer cases annually.
Som Group CEO Deepak Arora said the project reflects not just expansion, but a broader vision to become a pan-India player. “Farrukhabad represents more than just a strategic location, it embodies growth, opportunity, and the spirit of enterprise.”
The new facility is expected to generate employment for 700–800 people, contributing significantly to the local economy. The company emphasised that the project aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s pro-industry policies and vast consumption base, making it an ideal state for long-term growth.
On May 22, 2025, shares of Som Distilleries & Breweries (NSE: SDBL) opened at ₹149, slightly higher than its previous close at ₹148.41. At 12.33 PM, the share price of Som Distilleries & Breweries was trading at ₹145.21, down by 2.16% on the NSE.
