SBI Introduces Asha Scholarship Worth Up to ₹20 Lakh, Apply by November 15

The State Bank of India (SBI), through its CSR arm, SBI Foundation, has unveiled the Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2025 to commemorate the bank’s 75th anniversary. The initiative seeks to support meritorious students from financially weaker sections, reaffirming SBI’s long-standing commitment to inclusive and equitable education across India.

Broad Reach and Eligibility Criteria

As one of the largest education-focused CSR initiatives by a financial institution, the scholarship will benefit 23,230 students from across the country. Open to Indian students from Class 9 to postgraduate level, the programme also covers those enrolled in IITs, IIMs, top medical colleges, and other premier professional institutions. Additionally, SC/ST students aspiring for master’s or higher education abroad at globally reputed universities are eligible.

To qualify, candidates must have secured at least 75% marks or a 7.0 CGPA in their last academic year. The annual family income limit is ₹3 lakh for school students and ₹6 lakh for college or postgraduate students. 

Depending on the course, the financial support ranges from ₹15,000 to ₹20 lakh per year, covering tuition fees and other educational expenses until completion of studies. Applications are open till 15 November 2025 via sbiashascholarship.co.in.

Financial Commitment and Institutional Support

The scholarship supports students studying in NIRF top 300 institutions, NAAC ‘A’ rated colleges, and global degree programmes. With a ₹90 crore allocation for FY26, the initiative is one of SBI’s most significant educational investments to date. The bank said the programme embodies its vision of building a sustainable educational ecosystem, aligned with India’s mission of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
