Got Unclaimed Bank Deposits? UDGAM Helps Over 8 Lakh People Reclaim Funds; Here’s How You Can Too

The RBI’s UDGAM portal has empowered more than 8.5 lakh individuals to recover their unclaimed deposits from various banks by offering a centralised platform for deposit tracking. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing financial awareness and inclusion across India.
8.5 Lakh Users Successfully Find Their Unclaimed Deposits
As of July 1, 2025, 8,59,683 users had registered on the RBI’s UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information) portal to locate dormant bank deposits. These deposits include balances in savings, current, and term deposit accounts left unclaimed for over 10 years. Once unclaimed, such funds are transferred to the RBI’s Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund. The UDGAM portal centralises access to unclaimed deposit information across multiple banks, streamlining the process for account holders, nominees or legal heirs to claim them.
How to Search and Claim Your Unclaimed Deposits on UDGAM
To begin, users must log in at https://udgam.rbi.org.in/unclaimed-deposits/#/login with valid credentials. Select the “Individual” category for personal deposits. Then, input the account holder’s name, bank name, and at least one of these five identifiers: PAN, voter ID, driving licence, passport number or date of birth. The system will generate results displaying the name, bank, place and a unique Unclaimed Deposit Reference Number (UDRN). Clicking on the bank’s hyperlink will direct users to the respective bank’s instructions for claim processing or account activation.

Functions and Features of the UDGAM Portal
UDGAM provides a unified interface to access data from participating banks, helping citizens identify long-forgotten deposits. The output data includes the account holder’s name and bank-wise deposit references, making the retrieval process transparent and efficient. RBI encourages periodic checks through UDGAM to ensure rightful owners or their legal representatives can easily regain access to dormant funds.
Conclusion
The launch of the UDGAM portal is a major leap in financial empowerment and transparency. With over 8.5 lakh successful deposit recoveries, RBI’s initiative ensures that individuals can securely track and reclaim their unclaimed funds with ease.
