The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has dismissed a viral social media message claiming that its e-Office platform and certain online services would be unavailable due to a scheduled system upgrade. Calling the message "false and misleading", the retirement fund body clarified that it had not issued or authorised any such advisory.

The clarification comes as many EPF members and employers expressed concerns over possible disruptions to PF-related services. EPFO has urged users to rely only on its official communication channels for service-related updates.

Why Did EPFO Issue the Clarification?

According to EPFO, a social media post falsely attributed to the organisation claimed that its e-Office application would remain unavailable on August 5 because of a system upgrade. The message also suggested that some services available through the UMANG platform could be affected during the migration.

Rejecting these claims, EPFO said the viral advisory was neither issued nor endorsed by the organisation.

In a post on X, the retirement fund body stated that the information circulating online was incorrect and misleading and reiterated that no official advisory regarding service disruption had been released.

Will EPF Services Be Affected?

EPFO has clarified that it has not announced any planned shutdown of its e-Office platform or other digital services for EPF members and employers.

While the organisation continues to upgrade its digital infrastructure to improve service delivery, it said no communication has been issued about any temporary suspension of services linked to these upgrades.

The clarification is expected to reassure subscribers who depend on EPFO's online platforms for services such as claim settlement, account management and employer-related transactions.

Where Should Members Check for Updates?

EPFO has advised members and employers to verify all service-related announcements only through its official communication channels. It cautioned users against relying on unverified social media posts, which may create unnecessary confusion about the availability of online services.

Conclusion

EPFO's clarification highlights the importance of verifying information before acting on viral social media messages. For PF subscribers and employers, checking updates through official EPFO channels remains the safest way to stay informed about service availability and avoid unnecessary concern over misleading claims.
