The Government of India has launched a nationwide campaign to promote financial inclusion and facilitate easy re-verification of KYC (Know Your Customer) for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts. This initiative, running from July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025, aims to reach every beneficiary by providing doorstep services through Gram Panchayat-level camps.
If you hold a PMJDY account but have not updated your KYC details for a long time, there is no need to visit the bank branch anymore. As per the latest government guidelines, banks are conducting special camps across the country to carry out re-KYC and other financial inclusion services right at your local Gram Panchayat.
These camps offer a host of services, including:
During the first month alone, over 1.05 lakh camps were organised in approximately one-third of the country’s Gram Panchayats. These efforts led to the opening of over six lakh new PMJDY accounts and enrollment of more than seven lakh beneficiaries under PMJJBY, around 12 lakh under PMSBY, and three lakh under APY. Additionally, re-KYC has been successfully done for over 14 lakh accounts through these camps.
Launched as a national mission, PMJDY aims to ensure universal access to financial services such as basic savings and deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension. Under this scheme, individuals without any bank account can open a basic savings bank deposit (BSBD) account at any bank branch or Business Correspondent outlet, commonly called Bank Mitra.

The ongoing campaign for financial inclusion and doorstep KYC update under PMJDY is a significant step towards making banking and financial security accessible to every Indian citizen. With banks reaching out directly to rural and remote areas, this initiative simplifies banking procedures and strengthens social security cover for millions. If you haven’t updated your KYC or don’t have a bank account yet, visiting the upcoming Gram Panchayat camp could be your gateway to better financial empowerment.
