NTPC Green Shares in Focus: Gained 44% Against IPO Price

On December 16, 2024, NTPC Green share price opened at ₹144.05 and touched the day high of ₹145.00 at 10:00 AM, reflecting a flatish trade on BSE. NTPC Green Energy shares have performed well since its listing on November 27, 2024, with a 44% increase from its IPO price of ₹108. NTPC Green share reached an all-time high of ₹155.35 on December 4, 2024, but dipped to ₹139.25 on December 6, 2024.

NTPC REL Secures Major Solar Power Project Bid
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has emerged as a successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the development of 2,000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Projects. The auction also includes the establishment of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) with a total capacity of 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh. NTPC REL secured 500 MW of solar power capacity at a competitive tariff of Rs. 3.52 per kWh.
As part of the tender terms, the company is also required to install an Energy Storage System (ESS) of 250 MW/1,000 MWh alongside the contracted solar capacity. The Letter of Award (LOA) from SECI is awaited to formalize the contract.
NTPC REL’s Progress on Shajapur Solar Project
In November 2024, NTPC REL successfully commissioned the first part of its Shajapur Solar Project (Unit-I), with a capacity of 55 MW out of the 105 MW total capacity at Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh. This achievement marks an important milestone for NTPC REL in expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
NTPC Green Finacial Performance
NTPC Green Energy achieved remarkable financial growth in fiscal year 2024, with revenue soaring by 1,094.19% to ₹2,037.66 crore, compared to ₹170.63 crore in FY2023. This substantial revenue increase was complemented by a 101.32% rise in Profit After Tax (PAT), which rose to ₹344.72 crore in FY2024, up from ₹171.23 crore in the previous year.
