Upcoming NFO: Tata Mutual Fund Files for Tata Nifty Metal Index Fund

Tata Mutual Fund has filed the Scheme Information Document for its proposed Tata Nifty Metal Index Fund. The open-ended scheme will track the Nifty Metal Total Return Index (TRI) and invest in companies forming part of the benchmark.
The document, dated October 19, 2026, does not specify the opening and closing dates of the New Fund Offer (NFO).
Investment Objective and Asset Allocation
The scheme aims to generate returns, before expenses, that correspond with the performance of the Nifty Metal Index (TRI), subject to tracking error. It will follow a passive investment strategy, with its portfolio structured around the constituents and weightage of the underlying index.
According to the proposed asset allocation, 95% to 100% of the net assets will be invested in securities covered by the index. The remaining 0% to 5% may be allocated to debt and money market instruments, including units of mutual funds, to meet liquidity requirements.
Nifty Metal Index Composition
The Nifty Metal Index comprises a maximum of 15 stocks and is designed to represent the performance of the metals sector. It uses the free-float market capitalisation method to determine the weightage of individual companies.
At the time of rebalancing, the weight of a single stock cannot exceed 33% of the index. The combined weightage of the three largest stocks is capped at 62%.
Minimum Investment and Exit Load
The New Fund Offer (NFO) units will be offered at a face value of ₹10 each. The minimum subscription amount is ₹5,000, while additional purchases can be made with a minimum of ₹1,000.
The scheme will not charge an entry load. An exit load of 0.25% of the applicable Net Asset Value (NAV) will apply to redemptions made within 15 days from the date of allotment.
Fund Management and Risks
Tata Asset Management Private Limited will manage the scheme. As a sectoral index fund, it will remain exposed to risks associated with metal prices, commodity cycles, regulatory changes and developments in the mining industry.
The scheme does not guarantee returns, and its performance may differ from the benchmark due to tracking error.
