Upcoming NFO: Axis Mutual Fund Files for Axis Multi-Asset Active FoF

Axis Mutual Fund has proposed a new scheme, Axis Multi-Asset Active FoF, which will invest in units of equity-oriented and debt-oriented mutual fund schemes, along with commodity-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
According to the Scheme Information Document (SID), its investment objective is to provide long-term capital appreciation through investments across different asset classes.
However, the document states that there is no assurance that this objective will be achieved.
Asset Allocation
The scheme will invest 95% to 100% of its total assets in mutual fund units. Within this, equity-oriented schemes will have an allocation range of 10% to 80%, while debt-oriented schemes will also account for 10% to 80%.
Commodity-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) will have an allocation range of 10% to 35%. The scheme can invest up to 5% in money market instruments for liquidity requirements. At present, the commodity investments are restricted to gold and silver-based passive schemes.
Investment Strategy
The fund will invest in equity and debt schemes managed by Axis Mutual Fund or other domestic mutual funds with similar investment objectives and characteristics.
The allocation between asset classes will be decided based on market conditions. The factors considered include market valuation, market capitalisation-to-GDP, volatility, momentum, currency movements, interest rates, the dollar index and yield-to-earnings.
Benchmark and Fund Management
The scheme's benchmark comprises the NIFTY 500 TRI and NIFTY Composite Debt Index, with a 45% weight assigned to each. Domestic gold and silver prices carry a weight of 5% each.
The fund will be managed by Devan Shah, Akhil Takker, Shreyash Devalkar, Mayank Hyanki and Pratik Tiberwal.
The scheme falls under the Hybrid FoF category and is structured as an open-ended fund of funds.
Minimum Investment and Exit Load
Units will be offered at ₹10 each, with a minimum investment of ₹100 during the NFO. There is no entry load. Redemptions within 12 months attract a 1% exit load on the amount exceeding 10% of the investment. No exit load applies after 12 months.
The New Fund Offer (NFO) opening and closing dates have not been specified in the scheme document.
