SIP Inflows Hit Record ₹32,297 Crore in August; Contributing Accounts Cross 10 Crore

Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) inflows rose to ₹32,297 crore in August from ₹31,961 crore in July, according to an Economic Times news report citing data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).
The August figure was the highest recorded so far, crossing the earlier high of ₹32,087 crore seen in March. SIP inflows were also 14% higher than the ₹28,265 crore recorded in August 2025.
The latest figures mark a rise in monthly contributions compared with both the previous month and the same period last year.
Contributing SIP Accounts Cross 10 Crore
The number of SIP accounts making contributions increased to 10.02 crore in August from 9.90 crore in July. This was the first time the number of contributing accounts crossed the 10-crore mark.
A total of 66.39 lakh new SIPs were registered during the month, while 53.82 lakh SIPs were closed, matured or discontinued. In July, there were 61.44 lakh new registrations and 50.29 lakh closures, maturities or discontinuations.
The SIP stoppage ratio fell to 81.1% in August from 81.8% in July. The total number of SIP accounts stood at 10.62 crore at the end of August.
SIP Assets Increase
SIP assets under management rose to ₹18.62 lakh crore in August from ₹18.20 lakh crore in July. They accounted for 21.4% of the mutual fund industry's total AUM.
The industry's overall AUM increased 1.5% to ₹87.08 lakh crore at the end of August. The industry added 26.54 lakh folios during the month, taking the total folio count to 28.35 crore.
Small-Cap Funds See Highest Inflows
Equity mutual funds received ₹29,329 crore in August, compared with ₹24,697 crore in July. Among the equity categories, small-cap funds saw the highest inflows at ₹7,973 crore, followed by mid-cap funds at ₹6,989 crore and flexi-cap funds at ₹5,059 crore.
Large-cap funds recorded an outflow of ₹1,147 crore, while ELSS funds saw an outflow of ₹1,078 crore.
Passive Funds Attract ₹10,948 Crore
Passive funds recorded inflows of ₹10,948 crore in August. Equity ETFs received ₹7,237 crore, while gold ETFs and silver ETFs received ₹2,597 crore and ₹1,271 crore, respectively.
Silver ETF assets increased to ₹8,548.8 crore from ₹7,676 crore in July. Six new fund offers were launched during August and together mobilised around ₹3,051 crore.
