Axis Asset Management Company (AMC) Ltd has received approval from the Competition Commission of India to acquire the portfolio management services (PMS) division of Axis Securities Ltd, consolidating its asset management and portfolio services under one umbrella, as per PTI report.
CCI Approval of Axis Asset Management Acquisition
The regulator announced on February 17, 2026, that the proposed combination is an acquisition of the portfolio management services business of Axis Securities by Axis Asset Management. The clearance removes any competition concerns and allows the transaction to proceed.
Details of the PMS business
The acquired unit provides portfolio management services (PMS) to high net‑worth individuals and institutional clients.
Axis Asset Management already operates a mutual fund business, and the addition expands its capability to offer both mutual fund and discretionary portfolio management solutions.

Impact on Axis group service structure
By integrating the portfolio management services, Axis Group can streamline client onboarding, reporting and investment advisory processes.
The move is expected to create a single point of contact for investors seeking either mutual fund products or customised portfolio management.
Regulatory perspective
The Competition Commission of India confirmed that the acquisition does not diminish market competition in the financial services sector. The decision aligns with the regulator’s mandate to ensure fair competition while allowing business consolidations that enhance efficiency.
Conclusion
The CCI approval enables Axis Asset Management to incorporate Axis Securities’ portfolio management services, reinforcing its position in the mutual fund and discretionary investment space.
