HDFC Mutual Fund has opened subscriptions for the HDFC Gold Silver Passive FoF on August 24, 2026. The New Fund Offer (NFO) will close on September 7, 2026.

The scheme is open-ended and falls under the commodities category. Investors can start with ₹100, and the fund is available under the Growth plan.

How the Fund Will Invest

The scheme will invest in units of gold and silver exchange traded funds (ETFs). Its returns will therefore depend on the performance of the underlying ETFs and movements in the prices of the two metals.

The fund's benchmark is based on domestic prices of gold and silver, with gold carrying a weight of 70 and silver accounting for 30.

Fund Managers

Bhagyesh Kagalkar and Nandita Menezes have been named as the fund managers for the scheme.

The fund follows a passive fund-of-funds structure, with its portfolio intended to hold units of ETFs offering exposure to gold and silver rather than investing directly in the commodities.

Risk and Exit Load

The scheme has been marked as carrying a ‘Very High’ level of risk under the riskometer. Its value may move with changes in the prices of gold and silver and the performance of the ETFs in which it invests.

There is no lock-in period. However, a 1% exit load will apply if units are redeemed within 15 days from the date of investment.

Conclusion

The HDFC Gold Silver Passive FoF is open for subscription until September 7, with a minimum investment of ₹100. The scheme will invest through gold and silver ETFs, using a benchmark weighted 70% towards gold and 30% towards silver.
