Mutual Fund SIP Stoppage Ratio Falls for 3rd Month to 81.87% in July 2026 as New SIPs Rise

The mutual fund SIP stoppage ratio fell to 81.87% in July 2026, down from 91.23% in June 2026, as per The Economic Times news report. This was the third month in a row that the ratio declined. It was, however, higher than the 62.66% recorded in July last year.
The ratio remained below 100% in July 2026 because new SIP registrations were higher than the number of SIPs discontinued or completed during the month.
New SIPs Outnumber Discontinued Accounts
Mutual fund companies registered 61.44 lakh new SIPs in July 2026. During the same month, 50.30 lakh SIPs were discontinued or completed during their stated tenure.
The gap between new registrations and discontinued SIPs was narrower in June. There were 55.51 lakh new SIP registrations that month, against 50.64 lakh discontinued or completed SIPs.
The stoppage ratio is calculated using the number of discontinued or tenure-completed SIPs against new registrations. A figure above 100% means closures were higher than fresh registrations.
SIP Collections Increase
SIP inflows rose slightly to ₹31,961 crore in July from ₹31,781 crore in June. Compared with July 2025, monthly SIP collections were higher by 12%, rising from ₹28,464 crore.
SIP assets stood at ₹18,19,541.56 crore in July, an increase of 2.8%. They accounted for about 21.2% of the mutual fund industry's total assets under management.
Folios and Retail Assets
The number of contributing SIP accounts stood at 10,62,74,060 in July. Total mutual fund folios increased to 28.09 crore from 27.86 crore in June, with 22.66 lakh net folios added during the month.
Retail assets covering equity, hybrid and solution-oriented schemes rose to ₹50,68,667 crore from ₹49,41,096 crore in June. Retail folios increased to 21,39,96,603 from 21,22,59,046.
July Numbers
The July data showed more fresh SIP registrations than discontinued or completed accounts. SIP collections and assets also increased from June, while total mutual fund folios continued to rise.
