Global investment firm Lighthouse Canton has launched the LC Luminere Credit Fund, a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) focused on India’s private credit market,. The fund has a target size of ₹1,200 crore, including a greenshoe option.
The fund will invest in structured credit opportunities in mid-sized and large companies. It will have a tenure of 6 years, while the average duration of individual deals is expected to be around three years.
According to the company, the fund will mainly provide senior secured loans backed by collateral. Investments may be made across growth financing, acquisitions, refinancing, sponsor-backed deals and cross-border transactions.
Lighthouse Canton said the fund is being launched at a time when companies are increasingly looking for non-dilutive funding options.
It added that tighter banking regulations and limits on traditional lending channels have widened the gap between credit demand and supply in India.
The company stated that the fund will focus on businesses with established operations, experienced management teams and governance standards.
The investment approach will include structured transactions and credit assessment aimed at preserving capital.
The firm said it has already warehoused its first investment and identified a pipeline of opportunities in sectors such as industrials, consumer businesses and conglomerates.
As per news reports, Sanket Sinha, managing director and chief executive officer of Global Asset Management at Lighthouse Canton, said the fund would focus on lending to companies with stable operating histories and on generating risk-adjusted returns through disciplined underwriting.
