LIC Mutual Fund is preparing to launch a Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) with a target corpus of ₹500 crore, marking its entry into the recently introduced investment category. The fund house is awaiting regulatory approval and plans to launch the product in October 2026, subject to market conditions.

Alongside the planned launch, the asset management company (AMC) has set a target to double its Assets Under Management (AUM) to ₹1 lakh crore by March 2027, supported by SIP inflows, distribution partnerships and network expansion.

AUM Grows Over 200% in Three Years

LIC Mutual Fund has reported significant growth in its assets under management over the past three years.

According to the company:

  • AUM increased from ₹16,526 crore in March 2023 to ₹50,875 crore as of July 31, 2026.

  • This represents a 208% increase over the period.

  • The AMC now aims to double its AUM to around ₹1 lakh crore by March 2027.

The company said market volatility since late 2024 delayed its earlier target of reaching the milestone by March 2026. However, it expects improving market conditions and easing geopolitical uncertainties to support future growth.

Growth Strategy

LIC Mutual Fund plans to expand its business through multiple initiatives.

The company intends to:

  • Increase AUM through Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs).

  • Strengthen partnerships with banks and corporate distributors.

  • Expand its physical presence from 58 offices to 100 locations over the next few years.

The fund house currently manages 42 schemes across equity, debt, and hybrid categories. Equity funds account for nearly ₹20,000 crore of the total AUM.

SIP Flows Remain Healthy

The company said investor confidence in mutual funds remains resilient despite market volatility.

According to RK Jha, the MD and CEO, LIC Mutual Fund Asset Management Ltd, monthly SIP inflows across the industry continue to remain in the range of ₹30,000 crore to ₹32,000 crore.

He added that while recently launched manufacturing, consumption and multi-asset allocation funds have received encouraging investor response, the technology fund has seen relatively muted inflows amid concerns over AI-led disruptions.

Conclusion

LIC Mutual Fund plans to enter the Specialised Investment Fund category with a ₹500 crore fund, subject to regulatory approval. At the same time, the company is targeting ₹1 lakh crore in AUM by March 2027, backed by product launches, SIP growth, distribution expansion, and a wider physical network.
