86% of Equity Funds Beat Benchmarks in November

In November, about 86% of equity mutual funds outperformed their respective benchmarks, as per an analysis of their performance. Out of 277 funds reviewed, 237 managed to surpass their benchmarks, leaving 40 funds trailing behind.

Top-Performing Fund Categories

• Contra Funds: All 3 contra funds outperformed their benchmarks, recording a 100% success rate.
• Small-Cap Funds: With 27 out of 28 funds outperforming, this category achieved an impressive 96% success rate.
• Flexi-Cap Funds: Around 90% of flexi-cap funds beat their benchmarks in November.
• ELSS (Tax-Saving Funds): 87% of ELSS funds outperformed during the same period.

Consistent Performers

• Multi-Cap Funds: Of 28 funds, 24 surpassed their benchmarks, marking an 86% success rate.
• Large-Cap and Large & Mid-Cap Funds: Both categories had an 84% outperformance rate.
• Mid-Cap Funds: Out of 29 funds, 24 exceeded their benchmarks, translating to an 83% success rate.
• Focused Funds: With 23 out of 28 funds outperforming, the success rate was 82%.

Moderate Performers

• Value Funds: This category had a relatively lower outperformance rate of 70%, with 14 out of 20 funds beating their benchmarks.

This analysis covered all equity fund categories, including large-cap, mid-cap, small-cap, multi-cap, flexi-cap, ELSS, contra, value, and focused funds. Regular and growth options were included, and the data spans from November 1 to November 28.
