Axis Mutual Fund Enters SIF Segment with Accelerate Platform, Plans Equity and Hybrid Schemes

Axis Mutual Fund has announced its entry into the Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) category with a new platform called Accelerate SIF, as per The Economic Times news report.
The fund house plans to launch products in the equity and hybrid segments. It will share details of the individual schemes closer to their launch dates.
The company noted that the platform would focus on risk-adjusted returns, with investment decisions guided by research and risk management.
Nandik Mallik to Lead the Business
Nandik Mallik will head Axis AMC's SIF operations. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, including managing large assets under management through risk-adjusted funds.
Mallik was involved in launching the Long Short Fund at ICICI Prudential AMC. Before joining Axis AMC, he worked as chief investment officer at Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies LLP.
His experience in derivatives and alternative investment strategies will be relevant to the fund house's planned equity and hybrid products.
Investment Strategy
R Sivakumar, chief investment officer at Axis Mutual Fund, said the platform would rely on fundamental research to identify opportunities across sectors, themes and asset classes.
He said the investment approach would centre on high-conviction ideas and risk controls. The company cited differences in performance across sectors and asset classes as factors influencing portfolio construction.
The fund house has not announced the investment strategies, scheme names, or launch dates for its proposed products.
Management's Comments
B Gopkumar, managing director and chief executive officer of Axis AMC, said investor requirements were changing, with demand for investment products designed around specific portfolio objectives.
He also highlighted governance and investor protection as important aspects of the SIF category. The company said the platform's development would be guided by investment discipline and risk management.
