Axis Asset Management Company (AMC) has appointed R Sivakumar as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) with immediate effect as part of an internal leadership transition, as per news reports.
He takes over the role after Ashish Gupta stepped down from the position to pursue other professional and personal interests.

Before taking over as CIO, he served as head of products and corporate strategy and also oversaw the firm’s alternative investment fund (AIF) investments.
Earlier, he spent around 14 years leading the fixed income division, where he was responsible for shaping the investment strategy for the firm’s debt funds.
In his new role, Sivakumar will oversee the overall investment strategy of the fund house, guide the development of new investment ideas and supervise the investment teams.
Following the leadership change, Shreyash Devalkar, head – equity; Devang Shah, head – fixed income; and Nandik Malik, head – equity and hybrid SIF, will report to Sivakumar. The company said there are no other changes to the investment leadership structure.
