The Matri Pitri Vandana scheme is an initiative by the Government of Assam granting two days of special casual leave (November 14 and 15, 2025) to state government employees to spend time with their parents and parents-in-law.
Despite the casual leave under the scheme, both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) will operate as usual on Friday, November 14, 2025. The holiday is limited to Assam’s state government employees and is not recognised as a trading holiday by the exchanges.
Banks across India, including in Assam, are expected to remain open as there is no official notification classifying Matri Pitri Vandana as a bank holiday. Unless an individual branch issues a closure notice, normal banking services are expected to be available.
If you plan to trade in the markets or visit a bank branch in Assam, you can do so as usual. It’s wise to check with the specific bank branch if you're visiting in person, but digital banking and investment continuity should not be affected.

The Matri Pitri Vandana leave days are specific to Assam’s state government employees and do not translate into a market or banking holiday nationwide. Investors and account-holders can expect both the stock markets and banking services to function normally today in India.
