Welspun Enterprises Secures 910 MLD Water Treatment Plant Order at Panjrapur, Maharashtra

Welspun Enterprises Limited has been awarded a major project by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to design, build, and operate a 910 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant in Panjrapur, Maharashtra.
The contract, worth ₹3,145 crore, reinforces the company’s position as a key infrastructure developer driving India’s water sustainability and urban development initiatives.
Strategic Expansion in Water Infrastructure
The Panjrapur project represents one of the largest municipal water treatment initiatives in western India. It includes advanced civil, mechanical, and automation components, with an operation and maintenance commitment of 15 years.
Welspun has partnered with global water technology leader Veolia to deliver a state-of-the-art facility that ensures a reliable and efficient water supply to meet Mumbai’s growing demand. The design-build phase is expected to be completed within 48 months, marking another major step in the company’s journey toward strengthening its presence in the water sector.
Growing Order Book and Market Leadership
With this addition, Welspun’s consolidated order book has expanded significantly to an estimated ₹16,330 crore as of Q2 FY26. A substantial portion of the company’s ongoing projects is focused on water infrastructure, including major undertakings such as the 418 MLD Dharavi facility, the 2000 MLD Bhandup water plant, and urban tunnelling projects across Mumbai.
The new order reflects Welspun’s growing expertise in large-scale, technologically advanced projects that align with India’s sustainability and urban resilience goals.
