VA Tech Wabag Share Price Gains After Securing Large Order from Nepal Government for Water Treatment Plant

On November 20, 2025, VA Tech Wabag announced receiving an ADB funded Large Design Build Operate order from the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board in Nepal for a major water treatment project. 

VA Tech Wabag Bags Large ADB Funded DBO Project in Nepal 

VA Tech WABAG secured a repeat large order from the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board for designing, building, and operating a 255 MLD Sundarijal Water Treatment Plant in Kathmandu Valley. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and involves advanced treatment systems aimed at meeting Nepal’s National Drinking Water Quality Standards. 

The new facility will be located next to the existing Melamchi plant built by WABAG in 2017 and will process water from the Melamchi, Yangri, and Larke rivers to enhance water availability for Kathmandu’s rising population. 

Project Scope and Execution Timeline 

The Engineering Procurement and Construction work will be carried out in over 36 months. After completion, WABAG will operate and maintain the plant for 5 years, highlighting its long-term lifecycle service approach. 

The order falls under the large category, defined as a value between $30 million and $75 million. The contract includes design, engineering, supply, construction, installation, commissioning, and later operation and maintenance, ensuring end-to-end delivery.

As of November 20, 2025, at 9:41 AM, VA Tech Wabag share price was trading at ₹1,423.00 up by 1.38% from the previous closing price.
