
The Ministry of Textiles has cleared 17 additional applicants under the third round of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for textiles. The announcement was made on 18 November 2025. These approvals add to the list of companies working in Man-Made Fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textiles.
Investment Commitments
The Ministry said the newly approved applicants have committed ₹2,374 crore in proposed investments, as per recent reports. Another statement outlined an overall projection of ₹72,374 crore for the round. T
he selected projects are expected to generate future sales of over ₹212,893 crore and may create around 22,646 jobs once the facilities become fully operational.
Scheme Overview
The PLI Scheme for Textiles was launched on 24 September 2021 with a budget of ₹10,683 crore. It focuses on encouraging production in MMF-based categories and technical textile items. The scheme sets staged targets for companies and supports expansion activities in these specific segments, aiming to increase domestic output.
Progress from Earlier Rounds
In the first two rounds of the scheme, 74 applicants were approved. These selections covered various parts of the MMF and technical textile value chain. The Ministry noted that the earlier rounds helped initiate new capacity and draw more interest from companies looking to participate in the scheme.
Revised Guidelines and Application Extension
To allow more businesses to take part, the Ministry recently issued amendments refining certain conditions of the scheme. Following these updates, the online portal for applications has been reopened. Submissions will be accepted until 31 December 2025, offering companies additional time to apply.
