Tesla has opened its first full-scale experience centre in Gurugram, bringing sales, deliveries, charging access and support into one location. As per the news reports, the site is based at Orchid Business Park in Sector 48.

The centre also displays the Model Y and includes the Optimus Gen 2 robot, which has already been showcased in Mumbai and Delhi. The facility will act as Tesla’s main hub as the company expands its presence in India.

Multiple Centres, Limited Charging Network

The Gurugram outlet follows earlier centres launched at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai and Aerocity’s Worldmark 3 in Delhi. Alongside these showrooms, Tesla has activated 3 charging spots across the 2 cities.

A 4th site at One Horizon Centre in Gurugram is scheduled to open soon. Once operational, the company’s network will include 16 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers across four locations.

Charging and Restricted Access

Tesla plans to expand charging access gradually across major commercial and business hubs in Tier-1 cities. The company’s chargers are restricted to Tesla vehicles and do not require users to go through external apps, a process that has been a complaint among EV owners at public fast-charging points.

Tesla’s V4 Superchargers deliver up to 250 kW, which can add approximately 238-267 km of range to a Model Y in around 15 minutes, depending on the variant.

One Model, Import Duty, Remote Servicing

Tesla currently sells only the Model Y in India, imported as a completely built unit. This invites a 70% import duty, placing it in the luxury EV bracket. The rear-wheel-drive version is rated at up to 500 km of range, while the Long-Range variant claims up to 622 km.

Tesla does not run a typical service network in India. The company says most issues can be handled remotely and claims buyers could recover about one-third of costs within 4 to 5 years due to lower maintenance requirements.

Conclusion

The Gurugram centre consolidates Tesla’s operations under one roof, while the company continues to operate with a small product line-up and a slow rollout of charging points.
