Tesla Sets Up First Charging Station in Gurugram

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has commissioned its first charging station in Gurugram, the company announced on Wednesday, as per news reports.  

The facility has been set up at DLF Horizon Center, located in the surface parking area of the commercial complex. This is Tesla’s entry into Gurugram’s public charging infrastructure network. 

Charging Units Installed 

The charging station houses four V4 Superchargers with a peak charging capacity of 250 kW each. Alongside these, the site also includes 3 destination chargers that operate at 11 kW.  

The configuration allows for both fast charging and longer-duration charging, depending on user requirements. 

Vehicle Charging Capability 

According to Tesla, its Superchargers can add up to 275 km of driving range to a Model Y vehicle in about 15 minutes. The company said this charging performance is in line with the specifications of its V4 Supercharger technology used at select locations. 

Current Presence in India 

With the commissioning of the Gurugram facility, Tesla now operates three charging stations in India. These sites together are equipped with 12 Superchargers and 10 destination chargers. No additional details were shared on the location of the other stations or the pace of further expansion. 

The company said charging locations are being selected based on customer usage patterns. The Gurugram site is situated within a commercial complex that sees regular vehicle movement, offering access during routine travel and work-related visits.

Conclusion 

The Gurugram charging station adds to Tesla’s limited charging network in the country. While the overall presence remains small, the addition increases charging capacity in a key urban centre and adds another public charging option for Tesla vehicle users in the region.
