Tata Electronics has partnered with Netherlands-based semiconductor equipment company ASML to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, as per the press release.
The collaboration will support the development and operational ramp-up of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication plant being established in Dholera, Gujarat.
The partnership comes as India accelerates investments in semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure and advanced technology capabilities to reduce import dependence and strengthen domestic electronics production.
As part of the strategic collaboration, ASML will provide advanced lithography systems and semiconductor manufacturing solutions for Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300 mm semiconductor fabrication facility.
The companies will also collaborate on research initiatives, local supply chain development, and specialised semiconductor skill training.
Lithography technology plays a critical role in semiconductor manufacturing as it enables precise chip patterning and advanced node production.
The partnership is expected to support smoother commissioning and manufacturing operations at Tata Electronics’ semiconductor facility.
Tata Electronics stated that the collaboration will also focus on building a domestic semiconductor talent pipeline through training and technical capability development initiatives. The companies aim to strengthen India’s long-term semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem through workforce development and technology collaboration.
Tata Electronics is developing India’s first commercial 300 mm semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, with a planned investment of nearly US$11 billion.
The plant is expected to manufacture chips for automotive, consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technology applications.
The company has already partnered with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to access semiconductor manufacturing technologies across multiple process nodes, including 28nm, 40nm, 55nm, 90nm, and 110nm technologies.
Industry experts view semiconductor manufacturing as a strategically important sector amid rising global focus on supply chain diversification, advanced electronics manufacturing, and critical technology independence.
The partnership with ASML is expected to further strengthen Tata Electronics’ semiconductor ecosystem capabilities across equipment, process technology, and manufacturing infrastructure.
