Indian stock exchanges will remain closed on Thursday, March 26, 2026, on account of Ram Navami. Trading activities across the equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing segments will be suspended for the day.

Both the National Stock Exchange of India and the BSE Limited will observe the holiday as part of their official trading holiday calendar for 2026. Normal trading will resume on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Upcoming Stock Market Holiday

Following the Ram Navami holiday, the next scheduled stock market holiday will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in observance of Mahavir Jayanti. On this day as well, trading across stock exchanges will remain closed for all market participants.

Investors and traders typically keep track of such holidays to plan their trading strategies, settlement timelines, and investment decisions accordingly.

Bank Holiday in Some States

Banks will remain closed on March 26, 2026, in several states across India on account of Ram Navami.

According to the state-wise bank holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India, bank branches will be closed in states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

While physical bank branches in these states will remain shut for the festival, customers can continue to use digital banking services such as ATMs, internet banking, and mobile banking, which will remain operational.

Impact on Market Participants

Stock market holidays temporarily pause trading activities but do not affect settlement cycles for trades executed before the holiday. Investors planning transactions around the holiday period should consider the closure to avoid delays in settlements or portfolio adjustments.
