Sony, LG, and Panasonic have announced major price reductions on television sets following a GST rate cut from 28% to 18% for TVs above 32 inches. As the festive season kicks off, these lower prices are expected to encourage consumers to upgrade to larger, premium models.
Effective September 22, 2025, the GST rate for television sets above 32 inches has been reduced from 28% to 18%. In response, leading manufacturers Sony, LG, and Panasonic have revised MRPs by ₹2,500 to ₹85,800 across various models. Consumers can now access high-end TVs at significantly more affordable prices right as Navratri begins.
Sony has reduced MRP across its 43-inch to 98-inch Bravia models. For instance, the 43-inch BRAVIA 2 now costs ₹54,900 instead of ₹59,900, while the 98-inch BRAVIA 5 has dropped from ₹9,00,000 to ₹8,29,000, offering a ₹71,000 discount. LG has matched these cuts, bringing its 100-inch TV down by ₹85,800 to ₹4,99,790 from ₹5,85,590 and cutting popular 43-inch and 55-inch models by ₹2,500 and ₹3,400, respectively.
Panasonic too has announced markdowns ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹32,000. Prices of 43-inch TVs have been reduced to ₹33,990 from ₹36,990, while premium 75-inch models now retail at ₹3,68,000 versus the earlier ₹4,00,000, offering great value ahead of the Diwali season demand surge.

Manufacturers expect strong festival-driven demand, aided by savings from GST-linked reductions. These lower prices are likely to motivate buyers to choose larger screen TVs with advanced features. Bundled products such as soundbars and party speakers are also anticipated to see higher sales as customers look to enhance their home entertainment setups.
The reduction in GST for TVs above 32 inches has led Sony, LG, and Panasonic to pass on direct savings to customers in time for the festive season. With price drops reaching up to ₹85,800, the market is poised for a strong surge in demand driven by consumer upscaling and festive purchasing trends.
