Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited is making a significant investment of ₹12,800 crore in the robotics, drones, and deep tech sectors, as per ANI reports. This strategic move is set to enhance India's defence capabilities. 

Investment in Robotics, Drones and Missiles 

On March 7, 2026, Solar Defence announced its ambitious plan to invest in the manufacturing of robots, UAVs, and long-range missiles.  

The company aims to produce 10,000 drones and 1,000 robots annually, addressing both defence and civilian needs. The investment, part of Maharashtra's Mega Project and Thrust policy, is set to unfold over 3 to 4 years, with the first robot prototype expected within 1 year. 

AI-Powered Industry 5.0 Manufacturing Ecosystem 

Solar Defence envisions its Nagpur facility as India's first AI-Powered Industry 5.0 manufacturing ecosystem.  

This project will integrate advanced robotics and intelligent automation, prioritising human-centred, sustainable, and responsible manufacturing practices. 

Advanced AI-Powered UAVs 

A major focus of the investment is the development and production of advanced AI-powered UAVs, such as MALE drones.  

These technological advancements are poised to strengthen India's defence manufacturing capabilities significantly.
