As per PTI report, Shankh Airlines is set to commence commercial flight operations in January 2026 using 3 Airbus aircraft, with its launch phase centred around improving connectivity from Lucknow to major metropolitan areas including Delhi and Mumbai.
Shankh Airlines will begin its services in the first half of January 2026 with an initial fleet of 3 Airbus aircraft. The airline will connect Lucknow with major hubs such as Delhi and Mumbai, aiming to make air travel more reachable for middle-class travellers and new flyers.
The Chairman, Shravan Kumar Vishwakarma, mentioned that 2 more aircraft are likely to join the fleet in the next 1.5 months.
Alongside major metro routes, Shankh Airlines plans to include destinations across Uttar Pradesh in its early operations. With its hub at Lucknow, the airline expects to improve regional air connectivity in the state. The move may support passengers from Tier 2 cities by offering them access to faster travel options compared to rail or road transport.
The company’s focus is on breaking the barrier of perceived luxury around flying. Ticket prices are intended to remain stable during festivals, positioning the airline as a budget-friendly option. Premium fares for business class, however, will be available. The airline's leadership has emphasised that air travel should be seen as another efficient public transport mode, like buses or trains.

Shankh Airlines is backed by its parent firm which also operates businesses in cement, TMT steel, mining, and road transport. The company's transition into aviation began after steady growth from a trucking business with over 400 vehicles. The aircraft have been acquired via lease and financing agreements from external sources, ensuring no immediate funding limitations.
As part of its objectives, Shankh Airlines aims to create job opportunities for young professionals. The airline is focused solely on its own growth and service standards, rather than tracking competitor market shares within the heavily contested aviation sector.
Shankh Airlines is beginning its journey with an emphasis on connecting Lucknow to metro and regional destinations, using a compact fleet and a no-credit business model. The airline positions itself as an affordable and practical option for middle-income travellers entering the skies for the first time.
