ReNew Energy has announced a major manufacturing investment aimed at strengthening its solar supply chain and expanding its clean energy footprint in Andhra Pradesh.

Project Details and Investment Scope

As per news reports, the company will set up a 6.5 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing facility in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam, with an investment of ₹4,200 crore. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Chief Minister Chiefndrababu Naidu.

This facility forms part of ReNew’s broader ₹82,000 crore investment commitment to the state made in November 2025. The plant is expected to be commissioned within 24 months and is projected to generate over 2,100 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Strategic Importance and Manufacturing Integration

The proposed facility is positioned as one of the early greenfield solar ingot-wafer manufacturing units in India. It will enable backward integration for ReNew’s solar photovoltaic operations by producing ingots and wafers, which are essential upstream components in the solar manufacturing value chain.

Commenting on the development, Sumant Sinha said the project will support the creation of a more integrated clean energy ecosystem. The state government also highlighted that such investments contribute to building a clean energy hub while supporting industrial growth and employment generation.

Additional Renewable Energy Expansion

In addition to the manufacturing project, ReNew is developing a large hybrid renewable energy project in Anantapur district. The company plans to invest around ₹22,000 crore in this initiative.

The project is designed with a total generation capacity of approximately 2.8 GW, including 1.8 GWp of solar power and 1 GW of wind energy. It will also include a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 2 GW.

The company has indicated that this project could emerge as one of the largest renewable energy complexes at a single location in India.
