Reliance Retail has acquired global haircare brand Anomaly, founded by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, as part of its strategy to scale its beauty and personal care portfolio in India and international markets.
The acquisition includes ownership of Anomaly’s trademarks, brand assets, and digital properties, giving Reliance Retail full control over the brand’s intellectual property and online ecosystem. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Launched in 2021, Anomaly has positioned itself as a clean, vegan and performance-oriented haircare brand with a focus on affordability, enabling it to build a presence across multiple global markets.
Reliance Retail plans to expand the brand by leveraging its extensive physical retail footprint along with its digital platforms, including Tira.
The move aligns with the company’s broader approach of combining global brands with strong distribution capabilities to capture demand in India’s growing beauty segment.
As per news reports, commenting on the acquisition, the company said: “Bringing Anomaly into our portfolio marks a strategic step in expanding our basket of new-age, high-growth beauty brands… We see immense potential in collaborating with Priyanka to scale the brand in India while continuing to grow its international presence.”
India is expected to be a key focus market for Anomaly going forward, with plans to develop products tailored to local hair and scalp requirements.
At the same time, Reliance Retail aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in international markets such as North America, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas will continue to remain associated with the brand as Creative Director, overseeing product innovation and overall brand direction.
She said:.“This is a defining moment for Anomaly… Reliance Retail’s acquisition marks an exciting new chapter. Their scale and expertise will allow us to reach far more consumers globally.”
The acquisition adds to Reliance Retail’s expanding portfolio of premium and digital-first beauty brands. The company has been actively investing in this segment, aiming to capture rising consumer demand for differentiated and high-quality personal care products.
