The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has sanctioned a record ₹7,500 crore in funding for Brookfield’s 1,040 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
Combining solar and wind power generation, this project represents a significant milestone in India’s clean energy drive and stands as REC’s largest private-sector sanction to date.
The hybrid project, valued at ₹9,910 crore, integrates 400 MW of solar capacity and 640 MW of wind capacity. It is being developed by Evren, a clean-energy platform formed through a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy.
According to REC, this marks the single largest funding approval the organisation has ever extended to a private-sector energy initiative, reinforcing its commitment to supporting India’s renewable transformation.
This project is a key component of Brookfield’s broader 8,000 MW renewable energy pipeline in Andhra Pradesh, which involves a total investment of ₹50,000 crore.
Through Evren, Brookfield has already lined up over 3 GW of renewable capacity across Kurnool and Anantapur, indicating strong momentum in the state’s green infrastructure development.
On 3 November 2025, REC Limited shares rose 1.13% to ₹379.10, reaching an intraday high of ₹380.05 against a previous close of ₹374.85. Trading opened at ₹374.90 and recorded a low of ₹374.00.
