Rapido Expands App to Include Flight, Train, and Hotel Bookings

Rapido has added new features to its app that allow users to book flights, trains, buses, and hotels, as per the news reports. The company has partnered with Goibibo, ConfirmTkt, and redBus for these services. With this, users can now manage both local travel and long-distance bookings from a single app. Rapido currently has about 5 crore active users across more than 400 cities.

Details of the New Services

A new “Travel” section has been introduced in the Rapido app to host these services. Goibibo, owned by MakeMyTrip, will provide flight and hotel bookings. ConfirmTkt, a train ticketing platform owned by ixigo, will handle train reservations. RedBus will take care of intercity bus bookings. The update brings all major travel modes together on one interface.

Expansion Beyond Daily Commutes

Rapido started as a bike-taxi service for short-distance rides. Over time, it included auto and cab options, making it a broader ride-hailing platform. Earlier this year, the company also launched Ownly, a food delivery app. With the latest travel services, Rapido has moved beyond its initial focus on city commutes.

Financial Update and Funding Plans

As per the news reports, the company is in talks to raise around $500-$550 million, which is expected to include Swiggy’s stake sale. Rapido has not yet shared its FY25 financial results but expects to cross ₹1,000 crore in revenue. In FY24, the company’s operating revenue rose 46% to ₹648.1 crore, compared to ₹443 crore in FY23. Its losses reduced by over 45%, from ₹675 crore to ₹370 crore.
