Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on August 25 and 26 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for major development projects across the Revenue, Energy, and Petrochemicals Departments. The visit will focus on strengthening power distribution networks and modernising revenue infrastructure across key districts.
Five major projects under Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL) and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) will be launched across Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar. These projects, part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme and Normal Development Schemes, will benefit over 4.25 lakh consumers.
Ahmedabad will see a ₹608 crore project to move its overhead network underground, improving reliability and safety for 2,00,593 consumers. Mehsana’s ₹221 crore project will modernise its network and benefit 1,36,072 consumers. Gandhinagar’s ₹178 crore initiative will underground its distribution system, reaching 86,014 consumers.
Two high-capacity substations in Ahmedabad are also planned. The ₹75 crore Gota Substation will serve 1,634 consumers, while the ₹39 crore Chandkheda-II Substation will provide stable power to 1,149 consumers.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for two modern Revenue Department buildings. A ₹62 crore State Level Land Record Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar will securely preserve land and revenue records. Meanwhile, a ₹34 crore Stamps and Registration Bhawan in Ahmedabad will centralise citizen services, housing multiple revenue offices for streamlined access.
