The 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme will be released tomorrow, August 2, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi. The instalment will transfer ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore eligible farmers across India via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This marks another milestone in the ongoing flagship initiative aimed at supporting small and marginal farmers with financial assistance. Under PM-Kisan, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, disbursed in three instalments of ₹2,000 every four months.
Since its launch in 2019, the PM-Kisan scheme has transferred ₹3.69 lakh crore directly into the bank accounts of Indian farmers across 19 previous instalments. The upcoming 20th instalment reinforces the government's continued commitment to supporting farmers with timely financial aid.
The scheme is intended for landholding farmer families across India. A “family” under PM-KISAN includes the husband, wife, and minor children who jointly own cultivable land, as per land records maintained by the respective state or Union Territory.
