India’s alcoholic beverages market continues to be dominated by global majors, with FY25 underscoring a close contest at the top.

Financial disclosures for the year show Pernod Ricard India maintaining its leadership position by value, marginally ahead of Diageo India, reflecting sustained demand for premium spirits despite regulatory and cost pressures.

Business Performance in FY25

Pernod Ricard India reported consolidated sales of ₹27,445.80 crore in FY25, with total income rising 2.7% year-on-year to ₹27,663.56 crore. Diageo India followed closely, posting consolidated revenue from operations of ₹27,276 crore and total income of ₹27,612 crore for the year ended March 2025.

Combined, the 2 multinational groups generated over ₹55,275 crore in income from their Indian operations, underlining the scale and competitive intensity of the market.

Brand Portfolio and Strategic Shifts

Pernod Ricard India operates a portfolio spanning international and domestic labels, including Absolut, Chivas Regal and Glenlivet, alongside the Seagram range such as Blenders Pride, 100 Pipers, Longitude 77 and Xclamat!on.

During the year, the company streamlined its portfolio by divesting the Imperial Blue brand to Tilaknagar Industries, sharpening its focus on higher-margin and premium segments.

Profit after tax at Pernod Ricard India rose 8% year-on-year to ₹1,734.59 crore in FY25. Advertising and promotional spending increased modestly to ₹864.16 crore, reflecting continued brand investment.

Total expenses climbed 2.23% to ₹25,321.33 crore, while tax outgo rose 7.85% to ₹607.65 crore. Domestic sales accounted for the bulk of revenue at ₹27,099.38 crore, with exports contributing ₹274.86 crore.
