Ola Electric’s promoter has recently pledged a portion of its shares to secure funds for Krutrim Data Centre. This development comes as the EV maker continues to support associated ventures while navigating regulatory and market challenges.
According to a stock exchange filing, Ola Electric’s promoter has pledged 10.71 crore shares, representing 2.43% of the company’s equity capital, to raise funds for Krutrim Data Centre. These pledged shares form 8.09% of the promoter’s total holdings in the electric vehicle firm.
As per news reports, the pledge has been created in favour of Axis Trustee Services on behalf of Avendus, InCred, and India Credit Opportunities funds. This arrangement replaces a prior non-disposal undertaking (NDU) that was disclosed in December 2024 and March 2025.
Ola Electric clarified that the “NDU over these shares will be released once the pledge process is completed.” The timing of this pledge is significant as it follows the recent expiry of a lock-in period on a portion of promoter shares under SEBI’s listing rules.
Krutrim Data Centre, a unicorn since January 2024, has raised approximately $75 million from investors including Z47 (formerly Matrix), the Sarin Family, and others, as per news reports.
Despite its valuation and investor backing, Krutrim has faced challenges on multiple fronts. As per news reports, the firm laid off around 50 employees from its linguistics team in its third round of job cuts since June 2025. In total, over 200 employees have left the company this year, including leadership exits.
