The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct a mock trading session across all market segments this Saturday, August 30, 2025, as per news reports. This drill is aimed at validating systems and preparing for a mandatory software shift to NEAT+ version 7.8.3, effective from September 6, 2025.
NSE has scheduled a comprehensive mock trading session on August 30, 2025, spanning equity, derivatives, commodity and currency markets. This session is critical as all trading participants are required to migrate to NEAT+ version 7.8.3 by September 6, 2025.
The mock session will help identify technical issues and ensure communications and infrastructure readiness across the ecosystem. The pre-market phase begins at 9:00 AM with trading active from 9:15 AM to 10:10 AM and a re-login window from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
The exchange clarified that the drill will not involve any fund-related transactions, and no new software patches will be pushed during this testing period. Participants are advised to utilise this opportunity to perform internal contingency checks and verify backup mechanisms in a simulated trading environment. Prices during the session will be purely for system testing and do not reflect real-time market data.

All market participants must successfully upgrade to NEAT+ version 7.8.3 as NEAT+ 7.8.2 will be discontinued after September 6, 2025. The exchange has urged timely migration to prevent any disruption in normal trading activity. This mock session plays a crucial role in testing the compatibility and stability of the upgraded version under real-time-like conditions.
Mock sessions like this are held regularly by NSE, notably on Saturdays, to affirm operational resilience and ensure market systems are robust. It provides members a valuable window to test order management systems, validate infrastructure and conduct internal stress checks. This proactive approach is part of NSE’s broader vision of strengthening market reliability and investor trust.
NSE’s upcoming mock trading session serves not only as a technical drill but as a vital step in ensuring trading continuity amidst a software transition. With NEAT+ version 7.8.3 becoming mandatory from September 6, 2025, this pre-migration rehearsal is structured to avoid last-minute challenges and bolster system preparedness across segments.
