The National Stock Exchange has named retired IAS officer Srinivas Injeti as the new Chairperson of its governing board, with SEBI’s approval.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) announced the appointment of Srinivas Injeti as the Chairperson of its governing board of directors, effective immediately. The move, cleared by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), brings to the exchange a leader with decades of experience in financial regulation and governance.

Career and Achievements

A retired IAS officer from the 1983 batch, Injeti has worked in leadership positions for over forty years, covering corporate regulation, financial services, and public policy. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as Union Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, where he spearheaded reforms in insolvency, competition, and company laws. His tenure also saw the creation of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) and the Independent Directors’ data bank, along with strengthened corporate governance and CSR frameworks.

From 2020 to 2023, Injeti was the founding Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), India’s first international financial regulator. In this role, he supported initiatives across global banking, sustainable finance, FinTech, funds, bullion exchange, aircraft leasing, and the SGX-NSE IFSC Connect. He also served on the Financial Stability and Development Council of India between 2017 and 2023.

Education and NSE Statement

Injeti holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School, UK. 

As per news reports, welcoming his appointment, the NSE stated: “His career reflects a unique blend of policy leadership, regulatory innovation, and international engagement, playing a pivotal role in institutional reform, governance enhancement, and systemic policy innovation. He brings proven expertise in leading complex organisations, shaping regulatory frameworks, and fostering global linkages.”
