NPCI Rolls Out UPI One World Wallet Service for Foreign Visitors at India AI Impact Summit

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has widened access to its UPI One World wallet for international delegates attending the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi between February 16 and 20, enabling easier digital payments for overseas travellers, as per news reports. 

Summit-Focused Wallet Rollout 

The extended pilot will allow foreign visitors to make real-time merchant payments using UPI without requiring an Indian bank account or local mobile number. The initiative is designed to simplify spending for inbound travellers during their stay in India. 

NPCI said the facility enables secure Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions and allows guests to use UPI-based QR payments across participating merchants during the summit period. 

The UPI One World wallet can be obtained through authorised prepaid payment instrument (PPI) issuers at New Delhi International Airport and at the NPCI Pavilion in Bharat Mandapam (Hall 14, Stall 14.16). 

How the Wallet Works? 

Visitors can fund the wallet using supported payment modes and complete purchases by scanning UPI QR codes through the linked PPI-UPI app. The structure removes the need to handle cash or manage currency exchange for small transactions. 

Unused wallet balances can be transferred back to the original funding source, subject to applicable foreign exchange rules. 

As per news reports, Shohini Rajola, Executive Director - Growth, NPCI said, “UPI is the world’s largest real-time payment system. By extending the ‘UPI One World’ service to foreign guests at the India AI Impact Summit, we are providing a convenient way to experience India’s real-time payments ecosystem and Made in India technology.” 

She added, “This initiative also offers a glimpse into how smoother cross-border payment systems can support a more connected global digital economy.”
