The Nifty Bank index traded higher on July 27, 2026, rising 351.50 points (0.62%) to 57,045.00. The index opened at 57,116.80, touched an intraday high of 57,330.05, and slipped to a low of 56,946.45 during the trading session.

Market breadth remained positive, with 10 banking stocks advancing and 4 declining. The index traded at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 13.60 and a price-to-book (P/B) ratio of 1.76. Over the past 52 weeks, the Nifty Bank index has traded between 49,954.85 and 61,764.85.

Banking stocks witnessed broad-based buying during the session. IDFC First Bank was the top gainer, climbing 5.77%, followed by AU Small Finance Bank, which rose 5.27%. Other gainers included Canara Bank (1.66%), Punjab National Bank (1.01%), and IndusInd Bank (0.91%).

On the downside, Bank of Baroda was the biggest loser, falling 1.18%. HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Axis Bank also traded marginally lower.

The Nifty Bank index is dominated by large private and public sector banks. HDFC Bank has the highest weight in the index at 19.30%, followed by ICICI Bank (14.16%), State Bank of India (10.02%), Axis Bank (9.59%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (9.31%). Other key constituents include Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, IDFC First Bank, and Bank of Baroda.
