Nifty 50 Touched Day Low of 25,904.75 Amid Weak Global Cues

Indian equity benchmarks traded under pressure, with the Nifty slipping over 100 points to trade below the 25,950 and touched the day low of 25,904.75 at 10:30 AM. The weakness was mirrored in the broader market, as the Sensex declined nearly 300 points, falling below the 85,000 mark.
Banking stocks also weighed on sentiment, with the Nifty Bank index sliding more than 250 points and drifting towards the 59,000 level.
Asian markets also traded lower on Monday after China reported a contraction in investment activity in November, reinforcing concerns over weak demand in the world’s second-largest economy. The regional decline followed a soft finish on Wall Street last week, where losses in high-flying artificial intelligence stocks dragged US indices off record highs.
Top Gainers and Losers
Heavyweights including M&M, Trent, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Sun Pharma, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, TCS, Titan, Maruti Suzuki, and Bajaj Finance were among the top laggards, declining by as much as 1.4%. Gains were limited, with Asian Paints, BEL, HUL, and UltraTech Cement emerging as the only stocks trading in the green.
Broader markets also reflected the cautious mood, as the Nifty Midcap index fell 0.51%, while the Nifty Smallcap index declined 0.15%. Sectorally, Nifty Auto led the losses, shedding 1.1%, followed by weakness in the Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma indices, which fell by up to 0.8%.
